The first half of our Coron Tour was spent at the Kayangan Lake, Twin Peaks, Atwayan Beach, and Coral Garden. Read about it here!
For the afternoon session, we geared up for CYC Beach and Twin Lagoon.
CYC stands for Coron Youth Club. It's a small island with a small stretch of white sand beach, mangroves, and rocky parts. It's uninhabited but the beach's main attraction is the presence of a lone monkey who was very entertaining with his guests.

Tired of snorkeling, I opted to just stroll on the beach and take photos. Most of the people were only taking photos and sun bathing. A few were swimming but the water was really shallow when we got there.

the trees in this island gives us the much-needed shade |
As I mentioned earlier, you can find a monkey in this island. The monkey entertains his guests by climbing on the boats and asking for food and water (I think that's the way he survives!). This monkey also stops for some photo ops but unfortunately, he was so busy with one group of tourists and we didn't have the chance to get close to this monkey.
Anyway, one of our companions saw this cat. A cat on the island? Nobody knows why there's a cat in here. His owner must have thrown this poor little thing in here. And this cat is really really thirsty! He gobbled almost 500ml of water. I wonder if this cat has eaten? I wonder if they're friends with the monkey?
Please excuse my narcissistic side, but I just have to share this panoramic shot taken by beau. The view from the CYC beach is also very stunning. What you can't see on the photo are the docked boats on the left side.
Our next stop is the Twin Lagoon. We only had a few shots at the Twin Lagoon and we even missed taking a photo of the inner lagoon's entrance. If I were to describe it, well, it was narrow, and thankfully it was low tide when we got there. We had to swim through an opening, with some solid rock above our head. It was a little scary. One can opt to pass by the improvised stairs above the rock to reach to the inner lagoon.
nearing the Twin Lagoon |
The view from the inner lagoon is breathtakingly scary! Hahaha! Unlike in Kayangan Lake, the water in here is really really deep! (I'm scared!). The lagoon is bordered by walls of rocks. The water temperature also changes from warm to cold and vice versa. You will notice, too, that some parts have blurry water (it looks greasy but I'm sure it's not grease), some parts are crystal clear. I don't know why. Maybe that's in connection to the changes in water temperature.
Inside the inner lagoon |
I hope you enjoyed my post. As mentioned earlier, the part 1 of this Coron Island Hopping Tour is posted here.
