The first half of our Coron Tour was spent at the Kayangan Lake, Twin Peaks, Atwayan Beach, and Coral Garden. Read about it here!
For the afternoon session, we geared up for CYC Beach and Twin Lagoon.
CYC stands for Coron Youth Club. It's a small island with a small stretch of white sand beach, mangroves, and rocky parts. It's uninhabited but the beach's main attraction is the presence of a lone monkey who was very entertaining with his guests.
approaching CYC Beach |
Tired of snorkeling, I opted to just stroll on the beach and take photos. Most of the people were only taking photos and sun bathing. A few were swimming but the water was really shallow when we got there.

the trees in this island gives us the much-needed shade |
As I mentioned earlier, you can find a monkey in this island. The monkey entertains his guests by climbing on the boats and asking for food and water (I think that's the way he survives!). This monkey also stops for some photo ops but unfortunately, he was so busy with one group of tourists and we didn't have the chance to get close to this monkey.
Anyway, one of our companions saw this cat. A cat on the island? Nobody knows why there's a cat in here. His owner must have thrown this poor little thing in here. And this cat is really really thirsty! He gobbled almost 500ml of water. I wonder if this cat has eaten? I wonder if they're friends with the monkey?
Please excuse my narcissistic side, but I just have to share this panoramic shot taken by beau. The view from the CYC beach is also very stunning. What you can't see on the photo are the docked boats on the left side.
Our next stop is the Twin Lagoon. We only had a few shots at the Twin Lagoon and we even missed taking a photo of the inner lagoon's entrance. If I were to describe it, well, it was narrow, and thankfully it was low tide when we got there. We had to swim through an opening, with some solid rock above our head. It was a little scary. One can opt to pass by the improvised stairs above the rock to reach to the inner lagoon.
nearing the Twin Lagoon |
The view from the inner lagoon is breathtakingly scary! Hahaha! Unlike in Kayangan Lake, the water in here is really really deep! (I'm scared!). The lagoon is bordered by walls of rocks. The water temperature also changes from warm to cold and vice versa. You will notice, too, that some parts have blurry water (it looks greasy but I'm sure it's not grease), some parts are crystal clear. I don't know why. Maybe that's in connection to the changes in water temperature.
Inside the inner lagoon |
I hope you enjoyed my post. As mentioned earlier, the part 1 of this Coron Island Hopping Tour is posted here.
Oh my God! Coron...someone invited me to visit Palawan for free accommodation in exchange for a blogpost but I refused it. I choose to finish my thesis over it. Looks like I have the reason to regret that decision! Gosh!
ReplyDeleteAnyway the offer is still open...I might grab that offer in one of this days...
Praying that my graduate thesis will be done soon.
Oh how I wish my Coron Adventure will push through maybe next year. Because my neurosurgeon won't let me travel just yet:(
ReplyDeletei miss coron! hindi ko napuntahan yung kayangan lake, barracuda yung napuntahan namin.
ReplyDeleteCoron is really one of the best places in the Philippines. I hope that I can dive already when I return. :)
ReplyDeleteTravelling really brings both good and bad memories. Like getting lost, for instance. Maybe you can go back and replace old memories with happy, new ones... =)
ReplyDeleteSorry ha, I know Coron is a nice place, but posts about Coron really brings back bad memories. I hope di mangyari in your case.
ReplyDeleteako naman hindi ko napuntahan yung barracuda lake. malalaki bah isda dun? =)
ReplyDeletelet's hope for the best! Coron will just be there waiting for you. =)
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry I'm just curious why is it called Coron Youth Club? Beautiful place to travel. You look gorgeous. x
ReplyDeleteI agree! Hindi rin ako nag dive nung mga panahong yon. ehehe! ayaw kasi ng kasama ko mag dive. pero sulit na rin ang snorkeling. =)
ReplyDeletebtw, i can't comment on you blog. =(
Thanks! =)
ReplyDeleteI actually asked our tour guide why it was called Coron Youth Club but he didn't have an answer. Lol!
Oh my God! You should accept the offer. You won't regret it, promise. The photos in this post are just 1/3 of the real beauty of Coron. I haven't even posted about Malcapuya yet. Take the offer, just negotiate on the schedule so that you're sure that your thesis is done.
ReplyDeleteLet Coron be the prize for finishing the thesis! =)
Coron is another awesome place in Palawan, aside from Puerto Princesa. I'd be going to Puerto Princesa this August, and soon Coron. I would love to explore it's stunning beauty.

ReplyDeletedi pa talaga ako nakapuntang coron..sa palawan mismo..hehehe
ReplyDeleteI enjoy reading your post. As I read the passage about the monkey, I did it bit to hurry for I'm curious to see the monkey. Alas! there's no monkey, only thirsty cat. Your visit in this island and in Twin lagoon is enough for me to be satisfied of your travel account what's going on. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteAwww! When I could visit Coron? Anyways, thanks for sharing your experience. I only hope and pray that Coron won't get too commercialized like Boracay.
ReplyDeleteI never thought I could go to Palawan but I just did. It's just really a matter of timing and promo fares. Hehehe!
ReplyDeleteHahaha! You will feel the same when you visit. Ang sarap lang tumira dun.

As is, I like to snorkel a lot (w/o vest)..
Coron is just perfect for this kind of adventure..

I prefer El Nido for its long stretch of many white sand beaches!!!
The pictures you got are HAWT!! hehehe!! I like that Panoramic with your back, in your Yellow Bikini!
