How to Make Ice Cream

Ice Cream is one of the foods we associate with parties and celebrations. I consider it as one of my "happy" foods. In this post, my sister Gracie will teach us how to make the delicious mango ice cream.

You will need:

  1. All purpose cream (chilled)
  2. 1 can condensed milk
  3. 1 can evaporated milk
  4. mango puree
  5. mango flavoring
We used the following tools:
  1. Hand mixer
  2. Blender (for the mango puree)
Here are the steps in making Gracie's Mango Ice Cream:

Beat the chilled all purpose cream in a mixing bowl.
Beat and beat until it doubles its volume.

Add condensed milk and evaporated milk.
Continue beating.
When the milk ingredients are mixed with the cream, you should chill the mixture for another 30 minutes, or until the sides start to freeze, before you continue with the next steps. I've noticed that skipping this would mean that it would take much longer time before your ice cream gets frozen and ready to be served. But since Gracie is excited and cannot wait for another 30 minutes, we proceeded, anyway, since we wouldn't be serving this ice cream until the following morning (after 24 hours).

She's serious with the hand mixer while ate supervises.

By this time, we are beating the mixture at a medium-high speed.
Continue beating until you achieve an almost-foamy consistency.

Now, the mixture is ready for the mango puree.

For the mango puree, we used 2 medium-sized mangoes and a blender.
Time to mix the mango puree to the milk and cream mixture

Again, continue beating with your hand mixer.

Yummy!
Notice how the mango puree created beautiful yellow swirls.

This is optional.
We used a little bit of mango flavoring to enhance the taste.

We only used about 3/4 tablespoon of mango flavoring.

another two minutes of beating

And it's time to seal the bowl before placing it inside the freezer.
You can transfer the mixture to a sealed container before putting it inside the freezer. Normally, what we do is to freeze the mixture overnight and eat the ice cream in the morning.

You can substitute the mango puree and flavoring with any fruit or flavor that you like. Once, we crushed Oreo cookies to make Cookies and Cream Ice Cream. You may also add sugar or reduce the condensed milk according to your taste preference.

I hope this post would inspire you to make your own homemade ice cream soon.
