So my curiosity has finally been put to rest when I visited Maitre Chocolatier last Saturday with beau. I used to gawk at this chocolate boutique while dining in Red Kimono at Abreeza. I just have a feeling that Maitre Chocolatier is where I belong.
We ordered some sandwiches: Grilled Chicken Sandwich (P135.00) for me and Hungarian and White Choco Sandwich (P136.00) for beau. But I was most excited with the Hot Dark Chocolate (P155.00) drink that I ordered. And when it finally arrived, I was shocked that they have such a generous serving of dark chocolate.
Fact: I can only eat dark chocolate or else, I'd face the consequences of the painful tonsilitis.
One sip of this rich dark chocolate drink made me realize that I can't finish this cup. It was so thick and it was dark chocolate so it's bitter. I instantly imagined, this could be 90% dark choco. I asked the waitress and she told me that it's actually just 70% dark chocolate and they used Lindt.
Lindt dark chocolates are one of beau's "staple" pasalubongs for me. How could I not like this hot dark chocolate drink with the same ingredient as the one I always eat? Well, I figured that I couldn't even finish one bar of dark chocolate in one sitting (I could only eat two squares, at most, in one day). I LOVE dark chocolates! But I could only eat it little by little. When I was confronted with this big cup of dark chocolate, I was overwhelmed and was a bit disappointed that I couldn't even imagine that I could finish my drink.
I actually put two sachets of brown sugar to my dark choco and it tasted better. But it was still so thick that I couldn't finish it. IT'S ALMOST A CRIME IF I COULD NOT CONSUME THIS CUP OF DARK CHOCO!!!
I requested the waitress to transfer what remained of my dark choco into a plastic cup so that I can take it with me. =)
The next day, I mixed two teaspoons of powdered milk and added some hot water and WHOALA! My dark chocolate tasted just the way I like it! Hahaha!
Maitre Chocolatier's bitter dark chocolate isn't a deal breaker for me. I should have known that it would taste bitter. I should have known! I'll be back, Maitre Chocolatier, you just wait and I'm gonna order the classic chocolate on my next visit.
