Welcome to Bahay ni Tuding

Bahay ni Tuding is located at 160 San Pedro Street, Davao City. If you think you haven't seen Bahay ni Tuding while walking along San Pedro Street, then you might just have missed it. It's located behind Mercury Drugstore so you have to take the alley to access Bahay ni Tuding.

One July night, Davao Bloggers were invited by Ms. Mel, the General Manager of Bahay ni Tuding. It was such a fun experience! Ms. Mel and the staff were very accommodating and they treated us to an exclusive party at Bahay ni Tuding.

Bahay ni Tuding Inn and Resto has 12 rooms. It's a small inn so they take pride that they can personalize their services. Below are snapshots of their rooms....

What I like about Bahay ni Tuding is that it's located right in the heart of downtown Davao but it is exclusive enough to be away from the noise of the city streets. Bahay ni Tuding also has an ample parking space that is almost always difficult to find in San Pedro Street.

Chef Nice of Bahay ni Tuding served us with delectable treats: Salad with Tinapa for appetizer, Pork Humba, Buko Sherbet, Fried Chicken with Aligue Rice for our main course, and Banana Tchuron for dessert. 

It's nice to know that Bahay ni Tuding makes their own strawberry vinaigrette for the Salad. It's actually my first time to encounter Salad with Tinapa. The tinapa was actually a good addition to the vegetable salad, it somehow balances the fusion of taste of the dish.

The pork humba was heavenly! The meat was tender and the taste was perfect. The Buko Sherbet that Bahay ni Tuding served us was not in their menu. It definitely cleared our palates after eating the salad and humba, which prepared us for another heartwarming dish: the Fried Chicken with Aligue Rice.

 The highlight of our dinner was this Fried Chicken with Aligue Rice. A simple fried chicken was made extra special, it was very delicious, cooked just right! I am very skeptic with the way fried chicken is cooked because it has to be cooked perfectly: no more blood (meaning, I should not see any red particle specially near the bone), but it must not be overcooked. I think I tasted the best fried chicken at Bahay ni Tuding, and what's more special is that it was paired with no other than the very tasty Aligue Rice.

To conclude our dinner, we were served with Banana Tchuron which is not your usual turon. Banana Tchuron is made with extra love because it comes with a chocolate dip made from cacao. The dip actually reminded me a lot of sikwate.

Best Western Plus Antel Hotel

Best Western Plus Antel Hotel has been my home for 5 days during my training in Makati. Going there was a little tricky since the hotel is not very well known. But, it's actually very easy to get there.

It's along Makati Avenue and if you're familiar with A. Venue Mall, then you can find Best Western Plus Antel Hotel at the back of the mentioned mall. While going to Best Western Plus and taking the Makati Avenue Route, you will pass by the Manila Peninsula Hotel and Berjaya Hotel. Just keep on driving until you see St. Giles Hotel, and you'll be around 100 meters away from A. Venue Mall.

Upon reaching A. Venue Mall, take a left turn and the same road will lead you directy to Best Western Plus Antel Hotel.

The twin bedroom is spacious. The size of the beds were alright. There's a small study where you can work on but I suggest you bring your extension cord for convenience. There is a little kitchen with a microwave and water heater. Complementary water are provided.

I love the shower! And it's easy to explain why: just look at the picture above. Other facilities of the hotel are business center, swimming pool, pool bar, fitness center, and spa. Breakfast buffet is included in the room package.

Wayfarer Pension House and Dormitory

Going to Butuan City would always mean that I'll be staying over at a relative's place. It was only on December 2012 when I first had a chance to really book into a hotel in Butuan.

Welcome to Wayfarer Pension House and Dormitory, located at T. Calo Extension, Butuan City.

Rooms are clean, cozy and affordable. The twin (double deluxe) room only costs P800. I am not very familiar with T. Calo Street and we had a private ride while in Butuan City so I was not able to explore much of the place. But while going to Wayfarer, we passed by Gaisano Mall and Razon's. The mall and the restaurant are near Wayfarer.

Wayfarer has a restaurant, RIBBS DINER, that serves ribs and burgers. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to taste their ribs and burgers. I did taste their breakfast menu and it was pretty affordable at P80, including a hot drink of coffee or milo.

By the way, I really like the Hot Bangus sold at the Ribbs Diner. I forgot how much it costs but it was below P200. It was like Spanish-Style Sardines but it was Bangus (Milkfish) instead of sardines.

We stayed in Wayfarer for two nights and it was pretty awesome. The receptionist and hotel staff were really accommodating and friendly. They're also very helpful with the directions.
